Joan has created this desert scene diorama as a reflection of both personal experiences and the ever-present climate anxiety that shapes her perspective. The blood-red sky serves as a visceral symbol of my internal conflict—the tension between the breathtaking beauty of the desert and the stark reality of its fragility. This landscape, though vast and resilient, is increasingly vulnerable to environmental collapse, a reminder of the delicate balance between survival and destruction. There are working lights in the clouds, and a hidden speaker that plays a faint wind-blowing-soundscape. It is important to note that this diorama was created with ZERO elements taken from outside (no rocks, sand, flora, etc.).
